Service business SEO is about ranking for searches that signal buying intent — "plumber near me", "accountant for small business Bristol", "web designer prices". The stakes are different too. The Foundation: Your Service Pages

Most service businesses make the mistake of having one generic "Services" page listing everything they do. This is a missed SEO opportunity. Instead, create one page per service:

Each page targets its own keyword. Each page has its own title tag, meta description, H1, and detailed content.

What to Put on Each Service Page

If you serve multiple cities or regions, create a dedicated page for each location. "Plumber in Manchester", "Plumber in Salford", "Plumber in Stretford" — each deserves its own page. These are called location pages, and they work — provided they have unique, substantive content for each location (not just the city name swapped out).

Blog Content for Service Businesses

Your blog should answer the questions your potential clients search for before they're ready to hire:
  • "How much does [service] cost?"
  • "How to choose a [your profession]"
  • "Signs you need [your service]"
  • "DIY vs professional [service]"
